My crazy Culinary Arts project!

So i am officially done with my final project in my culinary arts class. Tonight was the culmination of our class. We served a 6 course dinner to 60 people and had a great time. I had a great time though, even though it was stressful.

I was in charge of the Front of house things, so reservations, waitressing, menus, drinks, sorbets, and soups. I chose to be in the front of house because no one in my class has ever done anything with restaraunts or anything, only one girl besides me had ever even waitressed. It wasn't really that bad until a week or two ago, cause then i had to start worrying about all the details and everything. I really was organized though. I had everything under control.

So over the past 3 days i have been setting up and getting prepared for this whole thing for tonight. I don't know how i pulled it off. wait. i do know how i pulled it off. I did it all myself. I planned it all and did it all myself, that is why it worked. I know i sound conceted, but its true. These things wouldn't have worked the same if i hadn't been involved.

So we served a great menu to all of our customers tonight. We served 6 courses: Appetizers, Soups, Salads, Intermezzo (sorbet/palate), Entree, and Dessert. I would write the whole menu but it is long. So if you want to know what they were, or what was in them, call me or e-mail me and i will let you know.

But i did have fun. I was glad that i got to share it with my family. My parents came up from Blackfoot, and Shelly, Jim, and Stewart came, and so did my Cousin Dallin, and his wife Mandee. I would have invited alot more people, but we had a limit on how many people we could invite, so sorry. I got to try a few things afterward, but not everything. I wish i would have cause it all looked pretty good. However there was some strange things that were served. I was suprised that some of the things were even liked. Even my Chipotle Pineapple Sorbet was interesting, but i really liked it. I will probably make it again.

Well i am going to go to bed now. i have to get up early so that i can enjoy some sweet snow at the ski hill tommorow! Later!

Easter Weekend

So this Easter was a great one. I took my roommate Kristen Bond home with me, to hang out with my friends and family. Not only was i going for vacation, but i went to deliver a wedding cake too. I have included a picture of the cake that i decorated. It was fun. I really was happy with it.
My family- like always- was out of control crazy. My dad fell asleep, and everyone tried to tickle him, stick things in his ears, and other such things. It really was hilarious, even though he didn't feel well. lol. oh, and then my brother Cordell did an interpretive dance of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, while my Uncle Ivan (my aunt Charlynn's husband) narrated the Story. It was the funniest thing i have heard and seen in a long time. They should take their act on the road, seriously. It was great.
I am glad that my Easter went so well. Family, food, and friends, what more could a girl ask for??? (maybe a boyfriend? Just kidding)

My fame has started!

So i have gone all my life with no recognition for my talents, but this week that has all changed. This weeks Scroll- the BYUI student newspaper- featured a story about me. A story about me and my cake decorating business, (which by the way has its own blog at www.cakesoncall.blogspot.com). The story talks about my talent as a cake decorator, and a baker and my plans for my future self-run business as a baker and cake decorator. I was quite surprised when they called and asked to write a story about me. I mean, who cares about me. But anyway, there is an article about me in this weeks scroll. If you want a copy, i have a few extras, so just let me know. I might even sign it for you (for you to sell on ebay for $$$ when i am famous!)

The second reason why I am famous is because my recipes have been published in another cookbook. The IBC (business core) students here on campus started businesses, and one of them was selling a cookbook. They asked students and faculty to submit recipes to be published and i sent in a few. So tonight i bought a copy of the recpie book, in which my recipes are featured. I am excited to try some of the recipes.

I hope that all this fame doesn't go to my head. It wouldn't be good for me... ha. what am i saying. Fame is wonderful!!!
